Abstract
IT is widely accepted that ovine fœtal growth and development can be markedly affected by the plane of nutrition of the ewe after 91 days of gestation but that prior to this time nutritive-level has no effect1–3. A recent investigation here has shown that severe maternal undernutrition may influence both fœtal weight, and the weight of associated placental cotyledons, at 90 days of gestation.
