Abstract
A NUMBER of neutral and acidic steroids produce fever and inflammation in man1. Inflammation probably reflects the cytotoxicity of these compounds, and since hæmolysis is one expression of cellular toxicity, several steroids were investigated for hæmolytic properties in vitro, and their hæmolytic and pyrogenic activities compared.
