Abstract

SINCE Giacomini's1 demonstration that the interrenal tissue of the ‘head-kidney’ in teleosts is embryologically and anatomically independent of the corpuscles of Stannius, doubt has remained as to the participation of these corpuscles in the production of corticosteroids.
