Abstract
THE occurrence of mutants1 and saltants2 in a fungus mycelium growing on an agar medium is usually followed by the production of characteristic ‘sectors’, the shape of which has been shown to be determined by the ratio between the linear growth rate of the parent hyphæ to that of the mutant1.
