Abstract
THE sulphate radical ion has been postulated as an intermediate in thermal reactions1 and in the photolysis of peroxydisulphate ion in aqueous solution2. Recently, it has been suggested as a possible intermediate in the flash photolysis of aqueous ferrous sulphate solutions3.
