Abstract
ALTHOUGH a considerable amount of work on DNA synthesis has been done in recent years in different laboratories, the exact mechanism of DNA replication in a living cell is not known even to-day. It is also not known whether or not a DNA molecule as a whole, with 10,000 nucleotides, or a part of it or smaller fragments of it, acts as a template for DNA or RNA synthesis.
