Abstract
IN an attempt to determine the relationship between the height of a sessile drop and its shape and size, an equation analogous to that of Bashforth and Adams1 was derived. The equation is exact, is easy to compare with experiment and may be used to calculate the angle of contact or surface tension from the volume and dimensions of any drop. In this respect it offers advantages over that of Bashforth and Adams.
