Abstract
THE production of an interferon by the virus of foot-and-mouth disease was demonstrated by Dinter and Philipson1. Recently the existence of a relationship between lack of virulence of a virus and its ability to produce and be sensitive to interferon was shown by several workers2–6. Evidence has now been obtained that the same relationship may hold for certain strains of the virus of foot-and-mouth disease.
