Abstract
IN the course of active transport across the skin of a frog and the bladder of a toad, sodium moves against an electrical potential gradient both on entering and leaving the functional epithelial cell layer1,2. Transport in both tissues is dependent on the presence of potassium in the serosal medium3–5.
