Abstract
IN urine there are many dialysable as well as many non-dialysable substances containing hexosamine. Recently, considerable attention has been directed to their examination1–4. By a number of methods various substances have been isolated; for the most part they represent complicated mixtures the composition of which depends on the manner of preparation. From the alcoholic supernatant after the precipitation of mucoproteins by precipitation with calcium chloride, Marcotte-Boy et al.5 prepared another, non-dialysable, fraction of unknown nature, containing hexosamine. This communication reports further fractionation of this substance.
