Abstract
RHEUMATOID factor is a macroglobulin component of the serum of patients with rheumatoid arthritis and can be demonstrated in a variety of serological tests by its reactivity with aggregated γ-globulin or with antibody combined with antigen. Exploiting its peculiar affinity for specifically bound antibody, I have used rheumatoid factor labelled with fluorescein in preliminary experiments as an immuno-histological reagent for locating sites of antibody fixation in sections of quick frozen tissue by Coons's technique.
