Colchicine-Type Metaphases in HeLa Carcinoma Cells

Abstract

COLCHICINE-LIKE metaphases have been reported recently1 in human leukæmic leucocytes treated with the dipotassium salt of (ethylene dinitrilo) tetracetic acid and sodium citrate. During a study of the effects of chelating agents on cultured HeLa cells similar metaphases were observed in cultures treated with phosphate-citrate buffer.
