Allergen Testing on Monkeys passively sensitized by Hay Fever and Asthma Reagins of Human Sera

Abstract

DIRECT skin-scratch tests upon allergic individuals are sometimes dangerous, and are inconvenient and time-consuming for both the patient and allergist. The classical Prausnitz–Küstner test (P-K test)1 is subject to the same objections and, in addition, subjects the volunteer serum recipient to the risk of infection with serum hepatitis. These considerations lead us to the use of an alternative method for indirect testing in our studies on the purification of castor allergens.
