Abstract
SINCE the first work on the red – far-red reversible mechanism controlling the germination of lettuce seeds1, many investigations have shown the same type of light-controlled germination in seeds of herbaceous plants as well as in tree seeds2. In the genus Pinus it has been reported for P. virginiana Mill.3, P. taeda L.4 and earlier by me for P. sylvestris L.5. Results from further work on the red – far-red controlled germination in seeds of Pinus sylvestris L. are described here.
