Abstract
IT is well known that the formula of naturally occurring and of precipitated synthetic hydroxyapatite is Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2: the molar Ca/P ratio of these compounds is 1.667. The compound mentioned can adsorb a consistent amount of water. For other synthetic calcium phosphates, with lower Ca/P ratios, the X-ray diffraction spectrum remains the same.
