Specification of Asymmetric Nitrogen Atom. Application of the Cahn–Ingold–Prelog Nomenclature to some Tertiary Amines and Quaternary Ammonium Salts

Abstract

THOUGH the Cahn–Ingold–Prelog nomenclature1 is quite generally valid for specifying asymmetric systems, and was proposed by its authors for the unambiguous description of both organic and inorganic systems, little application is to be found in the literature2 so far relating to the characterization of nitrogen atoms of known configuration by this convention.
