Abstract
Caspersson1 and Brachet2 first directed attention to the possible role of ribonucleic acid in protein synthesis. This role has been re-evaluated by Brachet and Six3. Ribonucleic acid is supposed to serve as a template for protein synthesis. Evidence in favour of and against this hypothesis has been documented by Chantrenne4, Meister5, Simkin6 and Hartman and Buchanan7.
