Abstract
AN important feature of vertebrate neuromuscular transmission is that acetylcholine is released from the nerve terminals in ‘packets’. At rest, a spontaneous discharge of these packets gives rise to ‘miniature end-plate potentials’1. We were therefore interested whether this mechanism of transmitter release also occurs at a non-cholinergic crustacean neuromuscular junction.
