Abstract
SHORTLY before Christmas last year, I was demonstrating a series of curious scoop-like cannon-bones recovered from the Makapansgat grey breccia during the past year to a group of visitors to show what looked like digging tools when one of the party, Mr. J. W. F. Hampton, said laughingly : “or apple-corers”.
