Abstract
WE have found that carbohydrates of low molecular weight are generally highly soluble in concentrated solutions of anhydrous calcium chloride in cold absolute methanol. After some time, crystalline methanol-solvated complexes of calcium chloride and carbohydrate are deposited. Such solutions and methanol-solvated complexes have not been reported before.
