Abstract
In the course of studies on the nature of resistance of plants to disease, experiments were performed to determine the effect of stem rust (Puccinia graminis Pers. f. sp. tritici Erikss. and Henn., race 34) infection on the distribution of the carbon-14 of photosynthetically fixed carbon-14 dioxide among the sugars in the wheat varieties Gabo 54 and Little Club. These varieties are resistant (reaction type 1) and susceptible (reaction type 4), respectively, to race 34 of the pathogen.
