Abstract
THE stimulatory action of angiotensin I (angiotonin, hypertensin) on isolated ileal segments was investigated to determine whether this action is entirely a direct one on the muscle fibre. Some evidence for an indirect action was obtained mainly by the use of botulinum toxin, which causes functional cholinergic denervation of the muscle.
