Abstract
EACH spring large numbers of elvers enter the Dutch Wadden Sea through the Marsdiep tidal inlet and migrate to the places where freshwater is discharged, such as at the sluices in the enclosing dam of the Ijssel Lake at Kornwerderzand and Den Oever (Fig. 1).
