Abstract
ACCORDING to the phase diagram published by Kussmann and von Rittberg1, iron dissolves in solid solution in platinum up to at least 35 atomic per cent of iron. The structure is face-centred cubic, but at compositions around 25 atomic per cent of iron (Pt3Fe) a superlattice develops which is stable up to temperatures probably in the range 650–800° C.
