Abstract
SUSCEPTIBILITY of plants to powdery mildew diseases is well known to be affected by nutrition. In water-culture experiments with various plants, high concentrations of boron1, cadmium2, copper3, lithium4, manganese5 and silicon6 have been reported to reduce infection. Cherewick7 found, however, that when these chemicals were added to the soil they had no effect on the severity of wheat mildew (Erysiphe graminis DC.).
