Abstract
THE polysacoharide dextran is widely used for expanding the plasma volume or augmenting the colloid osmotic pressure of patients in whom the total circulating protein is reduced. No direct measurements have as yet been reported on mixtures of serum with dextran, although measurements made by Wales et al. 1 on dextran–albumin mixtures are in conformity with the results described here.
