Abstract
WE have recently examined the infra-red spectra (in carbon disulphide and carbon tetrachloride solutions) of a number of compounds of the general type (I), namely, 3α : 7α : 12α-trihydroxy steroids of the 5β (A : B cis) series with various groups R at C17. Most of the compounds were esters of bile acids; but some related carbinols have also been examined.
