Abstract
PEARSE1 reported that keratin is demonstrated by the Schiff reagent after oxidation with performic acid. He suggested that the technique would be improved if a chromogenic agent were found which reacted readily with sulphonic and sulphinic acids but not with other basophilic groups such as carboxyl groups.
