Solar Outbursts at 8.5-mm. Wave-length

Abstract

SUDDEN large increases in solar radio radiation, characterized by a rapid rise in intensity and a slower fall and usually associated with chromospheric flares, have been observed in the last few years by Hey1 and others at all frequencies at which solar radiation has been measured, except at the highest frequencies. We can now report the measurement of several outbursts at a frequency of 35,000 Mc./s., or 8.5-mm. wave-length.
