Abstract
THE Chicago Fild Museum of Natural History has recently published the third part of its catalogue of birds of americas and adjacent islands. The catalogue contains accounts of all the species and and sub-species known to occur in North America, Mexico, Central America, South America, the West Indies and Islands of the Caribbean Sea, the Galapagos Archipelago, and other islands which are included because of their faunal affinities. In the present number, descriptions of the families Jacanidae – Rostratulidæ – Hæmatopodidæ, Charadriidæ – Scolo – pacidæ – Recurvirostridæ, Phalaropodidæ – Burhinidæ – Thinocoridæ – Chionididæ, Stercorariidæ – Laridæ – Rynchopidæ – Alcidæ are given. The final volume, containing descriptions of the Falconiformes, is now in course of publication.
