Abstract
WHILE there are many investigations on the influence of electrolytes on the electrokinetic or ζ-potential of solids, very few investigators have considered the relation between the ζ-potential and the structure and composition of the solid itself. This is partly due to the fact that in many systems the potential-determining ions are foreign to the solid.
