Abstract
A STATEMENT made by the Secretary of State for the Colonies in the House of Commons in 1946 disclosed the fact that a sum of £1¼ million was to be set aside from the profits of the West African Cocoa Control Scheme for cacao research in West Africa. This decision gave effect to the proposal put forward by the previous Government1.
