Abstract
A SMALL displacement of the X-ray diffraction maxima from the position determined by Bragg's equation nλ = 2dsinθ may be caused by experimental conditions, such as the absorption of X-rays in the specimen, or it may be caused by imperfections in the crystal structure, as several authors have shown by theoretical considerations, starting from different assumptions1,2,3. It seems, however, that in the latter case no experimental evidence has been produced.
