Abstract
MRS. MAKY GLADYS THODAY (née Sykes), whose death at the age of fifty-nine occurred on August 9, will long be remembered as a keen and versatile botanist. A distinguished student of Girton College, Cambridge, she obtained first-class honours in both the first and the second part of the Natural Sciences Tripos, after which she commenced research work in botany first as Bathurst student and later as fellow of Newnham College.
