Abstract
THE care of the national treasures in museums and galleries is a very great responsibility at any time, but particularly so in war-time. Whatever the nature and size of the collection, modern warfare presents the curator with a two-fold problem, involving, first of all, measures to circumvent the immediate disaster of bombing and, secondly, measures to prevent the gradual deterioration which is so often the accompaniment of prolonged storage.
