Abstract
THE experimental facts about the action of electric currents on charges may be represented, with some mnemonic advantage, by the accompanying diagram. C is a current of electrons, e a single electron in or out of a metal, m its direction of motion (which may be all round the clock), f the direction of the force on it due to C, when C is steady. When C is accelerating, e experiences a force in the same direction as if it were moving towards C.
