Reports on Progress in Physics

Abstract

IN spite of ‘blitzes’ and ‘black–outs’, of paper shortages and general war tension, vol. 7 of the Physical Society's “Reports on Progress in Physics” for the year 1940 has duly made its appearance, as well printed, well produced and not notably slimmer than usual. Physicists have come to rely on these annual volumes to keep themselves alive to developments in parts of their vast subject not paculiarly their own pet province, and the Society may be congratulated on the courage and foresight which have enabled it to continue the series through at least the first two years of the greatest war in history.
