Abstract
(1) “DAULWEISS'S “Principles of Development” is one of the most complete accounts of experimental morphogenesis to appear in recent years, and certainly deserves a welcome in a field not too well provided with general texts. It attempts to combine a text-book with a critical discussion of the theoretical principles on which our interpretation of developmental phenomena is based. The hybrid is a vigorous animal and will give any reader a good run for his money, in spite of the fact that while its main body is galloping rapidly forwards its intelligence is hampered by a nostalgia for yesterday's metaphysics.
