Abstract
THIS book is intended primarily for those who are concerned with the management of British forests and woodlands. Through the operation of the Forestry Commission, extensive tracts of land have been taken over in Britain for planting with forest trees. These trees include both native and alien species and, as the work goes forward, increasing attention will be directed to their various insect enemies. There has been a very evident need for a good practical manual on the insect enemies of the forester and, in fact, of trees in general. Such a work requires to be up to date and treat of the insect concerned in close connexion with methods of forestry practice.
