Abstract
MR. UDNY YULE'S “Introduction” was the first book on statistics that came into my hands. This was about 1916. I liked it then and learned a lot from it. I like it even more now in its eleventh edition, when it appears in a revised and supplemented form. In fact, in my opinion, this is the best book on the theory of statistics that was ever written. We may regret only that it is an elementary introduction to the theory of statistics and not the theory itself. This still remains to be written.
