Abstract
DODDS and Lawson1 have found that it is possible to obtain the ” strus response in castrated animals with substances which do not contain the phenanthrene nucleus. Various dihydroxydiphenyl compounds were tested and found to be active if the two hydroxyl groups were in the para position. Certain other compounds, for example, diphenyl--naphthyl carbinol, were also found to be active.
