Abstract
W. H. MARTINDALE, who had for many years carried on his father's work as author of the “Extra Pharmacopoeia”, died in 1933. He had brought out a new edition every four years and the book has become indispensable. He produced the first volume of the twentieth edition in 1932. The second volume has now been prepared by a committee of the Pharmaceutical Society under the editorship of Mr. C. E. Corfield, the editor of the “British Pharmaceutical Codex”. This committee has undertaken the heavy task of preparing future editions. It has always been a source of wonder that Dr. Martindale should be able to do all this by himself; Dr. West-cott's collaboration only lasted for a period.
