Interaction between Soot Films and Oil

Abstract

THE gas bubbles evolved on impacting the drop1 are not likely to originate in the carbon film, which is so thin that even gas inter-layering implies adsorption, which Mr. Carding's experiment2 with ammonia seems to show non-existent.
