Abstract
DR. ORTON'S letter of Mar. 3 under the above heading, in which he suggests that the genus Ostrea might be divided into two genera or sub-genera, Monœciostrea and Diœciostrea, is very opportune, for it must help to focus attention on one of the most difficult genera in the animal kingdom, regarded from a morphological aspect. But, as Dr. Orton states, more accurate information must be awaited before such a generic grouping can be accepted.
