Abstract
WE have found that it is possible to make photoelectric cells of the Elster-Geitel type sensitive to the extreme red, and having a colour sensitivity approaching that of the eye much more nearly than those used at present. The new cells have a limit above 700μμ and a very useful sensitivity at 650μμ; their sensitivity extends also to the violet limit of the visible spectrum, and their total sensitivity to white light is of the same order as that of existing cells.
