Abstract
THE editor of a collective work has, no doubt, a X difficult and delicate task, and one would scarcely desire him to simplify it by adopting for his own and his collaborators' guidance the cynical maxim: βIt does not matter what we say, as long as we all say the same thing.β At the same time, while the sentiment expressed in the sentence is reprehensible, the commendation of unanimity or consistency contained in the clause deserves serious consideration.
