Abstract
THE last ten or twenty years have been marked by great activity in Arctic and Antarctic expeditions. The results obtained in the department of terrestrial magnetism form a great contribution to knowledge, and prove that ocontinued effort in this direction will do much to remove the difficulties that enshroud the problem.
