Abstract
WE can only for the present express the deep regret with which we learn of the death, on the 9th inst., of Prof. H. J. S. Smith, of the Savilian Chair of Geometry at Oxford, at the comparatively early age of fifty-six years. We hope next week to refer to his career and work in detail.
