Abstract
THE researches of Mr. Loclyer, and others, summarised by him in recent numbers of NATURE, have to a great extent complicated the aspect of this grand problem, which appeared so simple to Stokes and Thomson in 1852, and to Stewart and Kirchhoff a few years later.
